Date/day change for April campus session - please RSVP in the comments

so far Lauren Amanda Jess Victoria and Ronnia on Skype!
we have Michelle form the library helping with searches later in the session to add to Adesola's introduction and what Laura has sent us..

I will advertise this again for Monday the 10th April 1-4pm on campus - we should be in CG83 but you might need me to get you in if you do not have a library card. 
I will be at the main Reception to meet you at 5 to 1pm for any who need help getting to the room - it is in College House - so those with cards can enter - the building to the right of the main entrance and the main College Building.

Module 1 2nd session 13.3.17 - note about Reader 2 up on MyLearning

Very good session!  - we used the slides to discuss how we can use reflection to go a bit deeper into the thinking that we do - looking at our own assumptions from our expeirence and society/culture and toward evaluation and analysis (as on the Gibbs or Kolb cycles).

  • and we talked about how reflection is linked to who we know in our communities of practice - who we know and how we discuss what we know - e.g. educational setting versus performance setting

Action research and action learning -

In the resources and the set up of the course we talk about special interest groups or SIGS.

1. Action Research 

Links to the idea of insider research (Costley et al) which we use on the professional inquiry - many have used these notions in research for the arts (related to the arts-based research conversations). Other research projects that are in the journals might be of interest to you for your practitioner research/inquiry.

2. Action learning - something that could be incorporated into the ideas for SIGs?

You could think of the special interest group as a form of the action learning set even through many on BAPP Arts are freelance or work in different organisations - similar ideas might apply ..

Here are some links about action learning. It is about people getting together in a 'set' to discuss problems/issues that need solutions embedded in the context - so not something handed down through theory...
