My conversation with a friend yesterday went like this: Me: The thing that I am having difficulty understanding is how we go from having ideas about starting a theatre company, and doing projects- to ACTUALLY doing it. Her: Yes, you mean in terms of rehearsal space? Me: Well that's the surface...more funding, employing people, advertising, target audience. The gap is knowing where there are resources to help you as I have the ideas for my projects.

Amanda - there is a term - entrepreneurship - starting a business. Lot os generic information out there but worth looking into for dance businesses. Small or medium enterprises are more common in the arts generally. Are you interested in the business side of dance schools?
My main interest in is docu-dramas and verbatim theatre...and how we can tell these stories using choreography and physical theatre. Obviously the nature of this requires a vast amount of research, which initially would need the funding! I am also looking at theatre that doesn't necessarily rely on teaching as a source if income. I do think it is important to educate but I would like to focus first on producing theatre and then hopefully this will come secondary.
