A change in September

One of the biggest things about learning about practice is planning and celebrating change.

I wanted to update everyone on some changes in the near future.

The BA (Hons) Professional Practice in the Arts (BAPP Arts) is moving back to the Arts! The university has done some restructuring for its practice-based courses and this one is moving to the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries in the Department of Performing Arts. To go along with this change, Dr Adesola Akinleye will become the new Programme Leader for BAPP as of the 1st of September. She will, of course, be suburb in this role and has been involved with the course since its beginning. I wish her the very very best as she takes on this new role in September.

As a tutor, I will be moving to the Faculty of Professional and Social Sciences, in the School of Health and Education. As someone who has combined interests in the arts, lifelong learning and practice-based pedagogy (work-based), the course has allowed me to combine these strands in a fantastic way that I will always appreciate.

I have greatly enjoyed the experience of sharing with the people on the course immensely and will really miss this part of the work that I do. This also includes liaising with our partners: Olivia at Trinity College London, talking credits with Cynthia at the ISTD, consulting with the Kolner Design Academy in Germany and the many colleges who have been progression pathways for the university. A personal thank you is also extended to Wendy Nottingham, who has been a fantastic point of reference for all things ‘acting’.

The success of the programme relates to the success of all the students and staff who have taken part (Alan, Adesola, Peter, Rosemary and more) and I have every confidence the programme is in a safe pair of hands for a change back to the Arts faculty. I will be continuing and completing the research I have been doing with those who have graduated from BAPP Arts, and feed this back to the programme, the university and beyond. It has been a privilege and a pleasure.

My contact details are not changing - so everyone knows where to find me - via email, phone, PaulaMDXNottingham Facebook and Skype.
