Guardian creative network link AND thinking about vocabulary in your writing
Here is the link to the http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture-professionals-network
interesting article about diversity in arts...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture-professionals-network/2013/apr/09/topher-campbell-itc-diversity-arts
and an article about inclusive theatre.... how does the terminology relate to your understanding of the topic?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture-professionals-network/culture-professionals-blog/2013/mar/12/dark-horse-theatre-rebrand-disability
Using the right words for clarity and understanding can make a difference - sometimes terms are 'contested' - that is there is not agreement in the field about exact meanings being the same - the vocabulary can sometimes be hard for others outside of the sector to understand - so explanation is needed.
3 quick points for blogs or drafts of work
1. vocabulary is important - take time to get it right, e.g. here is an web article about using the right vocabulary as a must in business and social media...
http://pro.gigaom.com/blog/deb-lavoy-thinks-vocabulary-matters-and-shes-right/
2. vocabulary for the arts (and other professions) changes over time - so relate any changes that might affect your topic and develop writing that represents current thinking
http://www.giarts.org/article/what-do-we-mean-art-artists-culture-and-industry
your may think of writing in terms of journalism - scan this to give you some ideas

3. use your knowledge but explain professional terms for your reader with 1. definitions that are specific (not out of a general dictionary unless it is appropriate to do so

Easter Holiday
Hope everyone is having a bit of a break for Easter, or if working, a successful next few days. I am away until the 11th of April, and at a conference about work based learning on the 12th April. I need to read up on transdisciplinarity and schedule in some writing before I return. I am visiting family in Berkeley California very near the Berkeley campus of the University of California. Students have been away on spring break and are now coming back for the exam period. I hope to see a bit more of the campus in the next few days. It is at least it is a bit warmer than England right now. All the best everyone...
