BAPP Arts Calendar September 2015 – 2016

Dates will be posted on the calendar in the main BA Professional Practice (135W99X) site.

Please note that dates or times may be subject to change if needed during the study period, but every effort will be made to reschedule the following events.

Note: we are trying out a new Adobe Connect (Breeze) space – if it turns out to be difficult to use – we will adjust the space – we will try to tape these interactive sessions to share with other students.

All campus session at Hendon – rooms TBC – if in doubt ask at the Main Reception when you arrive. The ALL Module campus sessions will run on a theme that will be useful to all the modules with thoughtful group exercises that will help you think/do.

(We might be having some online writing workshops with our new liaison Alexandra Pitt from the Learning Enhancement Team: you can also contact her for individual writing sessions. Alexandra’s email is a.pitt@mdx.ac.uk.

IMPORTANT DATES DURING THE TERM

Contact your academic tutor – look at your Handbooks and Readers + Reading List on your my Learning module on MyUniHub.

Paula will be trying out the new site ONLINE with drop-in sessions at 11am, 3pm and 8pm on the 28^th  -  the first day of the study period -  if you want to connect and chat - http://breeze.mdx.ac.uk/bapparts/ 

Paul from CAPE says to upload the ADD-in feature all you "need to do is click on OK to allow it to install – this happens automatically and then it will reload the meeting room for them. That’s all there is to it!
You may need to add Flash and reboot - download address again.

More information about submission will be up on My Learning a month before submission date. Note this year we will have Turnitin, the university software to check for plagiarism, to help you check your work.

Module 3 Oral Presentations 21^st (Thursday) Vine VG02 (TBC) and 22^nd (Friday) Room V102 (TBC) January 2016. In December Paula will contact Module 3 students about which day their presentation is scheduled. Everyone is welcome (all Modules) to come and support the Module 3 presenters.

INDUCTION 22^nd September 10-4 – Room: CG82 requires a student card to access. Please come to main Reception at Hendon in the College Building and we will come to meet you at 10am.

BAPP Arts reminders - the week of October 27th 2014

Everyone in BAPP Arts

There is some very good work going on – it is already late in October and the fifth week of the course this study period. I am aware many of you are very busy. We are asked to be doing more and more in our jobs – so time is precious. Please see questions and reminders for you below.

1. I need a student representative urgently – can anyone please volunteer for the year or until Jan/Feb? This looks very good on a CV and is very helpful to us in terms of feedback for the course. Just send me an email!!!

2. A reminder about BAPP Arts campus and online sessions are up on the schedule on MyLearning in the folder Schedule and on the calendar.  See schedule again below in this email. Please RSVP. 

If needed, I will do another 8pm session for Module 2 Part 5 – and will send a Doodlebug around for this as many are working at a distance this study period.

If needed the RoL group can get together via Skype or Google HangOut if that would be helpful.

Chrysallis London students – we will be doing another session for you with Jodie in a couple of weeks!!! Good luck on the performances.

The campus sessions are think tanks for the Parts of the Module so coincide with Parts 1,2, 3 for Module 1 Parts 4,5,6 for Module 2 and 7 – stages of the inquiry – for Module 3. Blogs go up after these weeks about the Parts of the module. Please everyone go to Adesola and my blog for information and leave comments/questions.

Adesola and I set up the schedule to allow as many to attend as possible with peers – we have a schedule that we are following for your coursework based on what your handbook says at the end of each group of tasks. The campus session are loosely based on the Parts of the module and the Skype sessions are open to all modules – we add to these as needed and with individual tutorials. 

You can also get in touch with us for individual tutorials – contact information is in the programme handbook and online – this is self-managed learning so we relay on you to keep the schedule. I am sending this on the email you gave us – I am also sending it to your MDX email – you need to forward this if you have not already because this is how the university gets in touch with you. I will also put this on my blog.

3. To access the Reading Lists and the module handbooks – go to the UniHub http://unihub.mdx.ac.uk and then the MyUniHub tab and enter the virtual Learning system (VLE) called MyLearning  your IT user name and password – you should be able to see your modules up there and still go to BA Professional Practice Arts (135W99X) SCROLL DOWN. The Reading lists have copyrighted information so are behind this ‘firewall’ - they should be on the module site somewhere or you can click through to them through the Library. 

There is also a public access to the BAPP Arts Programme site which has the blog addresses in it http://mdx.mrooms.net/course/view.php?id=859 – you cannot get to the library or Reading List or the Module handbooks through this link – the university system has been having problems the last couple of weeks that people have shown me – but try this and then get in touch with Aimee Tallon a.tallon@mdx.ac.uk if you are having problems with the university system.
